Mission Statement

The School of Exercise, Training & Science (SETS) is committed to providing a vastly comprehensive education to each student, entrusting their learning to highly qualified faculty, presenting the most up to date and pertinent curriculum.  SETS strives to enable its students with the specialized training needed to enter the workforce and contribute to the community as a NSCA Certified Personal Trainers of the highest caliber and with advanced studies become a Exercise Nutritionist (EN).

Staff

David A. Shipitofsky DC, BS, NSCA-CPTDirector/ Lead Instructor

David received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration / Marketing from Monmouth College in West Long Branch, New Jersey.  After earning his degree he became a Manager and Fitness Instructor for Jack Lalanne Health Spa / Bally’s Total Fitness.  While attending New York Chiropractic College (NYCC) in Seneca Falls, New York, David received his Doctorate in Chiropractic.  During his studies, he was a teaching assistant in Motion Palpation and Biomechanics at NYCC and served as both the Coordinator and Instructor for the Neuromusculoskeletal Institute; an organization specialized in teaching Biomechanical Assessment, and Specific Spinal Manipulation.  He is certified by the National Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) as a Certified Personal Trainer.   David is now semi-retired after years in practice and is now utilizing his knowledge to serve the health and fitness industry.  Previously, David has served as both Director and Lead Instructor for the National Personal Training Institute of Phoenix.

Our comprehensive, state approved 300 hour program is to train students in the art and science of Personal Training.  Personal Trainers require knowledge and expertise in the areas of exercise and fitness, anatomy and physiology, weight management, and healthy lifestyles. A Personal Trainer’s role is to advise clients on appropriate and proper exercise techniques, weight loss/gain and weight maintenance options, and how to adopt healthier lifestyles.  The knowledge and skills acquired by SETS students will enable them to design and implement safe and effective training programs specific to each client, which includes exercise, fitness and nutritional consultation.

You will be exposed to both 180 hours of extensive classroom lectures, as well as 120 hours of practical, hands-on instruction in our own fitness center, under the supervision of our experienced staff.

Following successful completion of the SETS 300 hour program you’ll be awarded a Diploma as a Personal Trainer, and you’ll be certified in CPR, AED and First Aid!  

SETS prepares you for the national certification examination through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).  The NSCA’s credentials will really set you apart in the fitness industry.

– this includes all registration fees, textbooks, gym fee, certification fees and of course, tuition!

The 300 Hour Personal Training Program is payable 5 ways:

1) Payment in full due at Orientation

2) Half Payments

- first at Orientation, second 2 months later- Interest free!

3) Interest free & flexible payment schedules are available:

- $75.00 Registration fee

- $1125.00 (minimum due at Orientation)

- 4 payments of $1000.00 due on the 15th of each month. All Interest free!

Requirements for the Personal Training Program

Applicants must:

be at least 18 years of age, and provide proof of such be a US citizen or have a green card provide a high school diploma, transcript, or GED provide a medical release from a physician showing student is physically able to participate in the program
