"Amazing! That is the one word I would most commonly use when I was asked how my schooling was going at SETS. I have been working out for many years and always got a kick out of the personal trainers at the gyms. They don’t pay attention to their clients and they usually have their clients performing the exercises incorrectly. I was interested in becoming a personal trainer but did not want to be one of “those” trainers. I came across the School of Exercise Training and Science website, researched the NSCA certification and discovered it is one of the highest recognized national personal training certification you can receive. I chose to go through SETS in order to prepare for the NSCA Certification Test. The four month prep course covered a mind-boggling amount of information covering topics such as body movements, muscles, conditions and their specific contraindications for training, nutrition, and etc. The instructor, Dr. David Shipitofsky, has an approach to teaching the information so you don’t become overwhelmed. His knowledge and passion for fitness always kept the classes interesting and informative. If you were struggling in a certain area, he would make the time to help you understand it. If you couldn’t grasp a concept in the classroom, he would explain it to you in the gym and let you experience it hands on. The benefit of being able to “train” a peer in a safe learning environment is unsurpassable. Dr. Shipitofsky would not only give input on our training methods and workout plans but he also opened our eyes to other modes of training besides weights that are out there. He made sure we experienced the use of resistance bands, stability balls, and others. At the end of the four month course I felt extremely well prepared for the NSCA Exam. I know that I would not have passed the exam without going through SETS beforehand. The information I learned in the duration of class has helped me become the trainer I am today. If my clients ask me why I am having them do a certain exercise in a specific way, I can give them a specific, and more importantly, correct reason. I can create a workout plan for the client that is actually going to help them reach their individual goals instead of using the same canned workout for everyone. I would HIGHLY recommend this course to anyone interested in the training arena." Theresa P- O, NSCA-CPT I was a statistic of the real estate meltdown in 2009. I was looking for a whole new career and needed a clear and concise path. After extensive research I found that NSCA was the best in PT Certifications and that SETS was the best place to “learn the craft”. After graduating in April of 2010, I then passed the extremely intimidating NSCA test that same month….on my first try! I started training at a large and respected gym in AZ. In less than a year, I have been promoted to Fitness Director passing by others with upwards of 11 years experience. The knowledge gained from SETS and NSCA is obviously far superior to any other certification. This is first class! Brian L, NSCA-CPT "As a graduate from the School of Exercise Training and Science, I cannot overstate the value of this program. Dr. Shipitofsky has a wonderfully simple, yet very powerful approach on how to best present in print and in person the tools needed to succeed as a personal trainer. His process helps you identify your unique value, differentiate yourself from others, and gives you the ability to crisply communicate your knowledge to others. The scope of the program has given me the insight into issues and circumstances that face all fitness trainers as well as challenged me to develop a philosophy of educating and teaching my clients a new healthy lifestyle. I have and will continue to recommend this program to others." Damian F, NSCA-CPT 'If you're serious about a career as a personal trainer then SETS is the place. David doesn't want you to just pass the course, he wants you to understand and be able to apply what you've learned. The material is not easy and when I first received the coursework I felt a bit overwhelmed, given the short 4 month schedule in which to learn it in, but thanks to David I passed the difficult NSCA exam first time taking it, coming from absolutely no background in fitness or health related field. I can not recommend SETS highly enough and would be happy to provide a reference to anyone considering attending.' Vin Amorando, NSCA-CPT I've known since high school that I wanted to become a personal trainer but I've never really done well in school. I got a referral to SETS from a former student and personal trainer, so I joined the program. David really helped me, not only with the terminology but he made sure I fully understood every detail of the lessons he taught us. With his expertise on running a business and the professionalism he conveyed, I was able to become certified and start my own personal training business with confidence. I consider David to be a valuable mentor and would highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to make a difference in someone's life. Ryon Smith NSCA -CPT My name is Briana M. and I thought I knew all there was to know about weight training and the aspects of exercise until I joined School of Exercise, Training and Science. It was a huge eye opener to the different aspects of training and to the human body, it literally gave me the tools that I needed to land a great job at Fitness Works in Glendale! I highly recommend taking the course, it's a great opportunity for whoever is looking to be a great personal trainer!!! Thank you David and the SETS for the opportunity to enhance my life by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer. Your program gave me a fast start to being the best to help my clients. I was able to get a job at a gym immediately after graduating from SETS certification program and within a year I started my own company, Fit 4 Life, LLC. You also helped me in growing my business by providing other SETS graduates who are Certified Personal Trainers for Fit 4 Life, LLC. I highly recommend the SETS program for anyone looking to becoming a SUCCESSFUL certified personal trainer. Nancy W, NSCA-CPT
